In 2016 Justin Satterfield was living off a food budget of $50/week, wondering where his next meal would come from. That same year he started Norwood, the name taken from the street on which he grew up.
Today the Austin, TX-based company has become one of the nation’s leading mid-revenue cycle solutions firms, with three straight appearances on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list.
Norwood began as a staffing agency and still proudly serves people. We're honored to have given thousands of coding, CDI, and trauma/oncology registry professionals fresh starts, new careers, and life-changing opportunities.
Today we’ve greatly expanded our reach as a full-service solutions company, providing custom consulting, medical code auditing, education, on-demand talent, and managed services.
But one thing hasn’t changed.
Norwood remains privately held and fiercely independent. Our freedom—no venture capital, no tech bias, just expertise and smart, right-sized solutions—sets us apart from anyone else you’ll work with.

“Why not? Why can’t you have it all? A flexible, professional work environment; a brand and vision you are proud to be a part of; a group of talented people you want to spend time with; and be successful. Why not? If it doesn’t exist, then create it. That’s where our story begins.
At age 26 with $16K to my name I became a bootstrapping solo entrepreneur. Paying rent on credit cards, eating on $50/wk, and building a business on a shoestring was a challenging endeavor. I can attest that building a company from scratch is not for the faint of heart, but that transformative experience became the most rewarding chapter of my life.
I wanted to provide a home for the industry leading professionals who were tired of working for private equity owned employers where EBITA driven metrics stifled their ability to provide superior customer service. I wanted to build the most respected company in the industry.
Suffice it to say that the most respected company in the industry would live or die on bringing together the right people. More than anything else at Norwood, I am most proud of the team we have.
