HCC Coder – Remote
Engagement: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Duration: 6–9 months with potential to extend

Location: Remote
Schedule: Central Time business hours. Preferred schedule is around 8:00 AM–4:00 PM CT, with some flexibility available once established in the role. Earliest start time is 6:00 AM CT and latest end time is 6:00 PM CT.
What They’re Looking For
- Experienced HCC / Risk Adjustment Coder
- Hands-on experience coding both CMS and HHS models
- Epic experience required
- Strong ICD-10 / HCC coding experience
- Experience with family medicine and internal medicine
- Primary care pediatric HCC experience strongly preferred
- Cardiovascular experience is a plus
- Provider query experience is a plus, but not required
- Comfortable working independently with limited formal training
- Receptive to audits, feedback, and ongoing education
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions when needed
Productivity Expectations
- Minimum: 5.5 charts per hour
- Typical team productivity: approximately 6 charts per hour
Certification / Experience
- CRC strongly preferred
- Candidates without a CRC may be considered with 4+ years of relevant HCC / risk adjustment experience
- Candidates will complete a risk adjustment assessment prior to submission
Workflow
- Focus is on HCC capture rather than full code capture
- No CPT coding
- HCC coding is completed before the chart moves to the PB coding team
- Client CQAs will audit work and provide ongoing education and feedback
- Initial onboarding will include shadowing and access to internal guidelines and resources rather than extensive formal training
Ideal Candidate
Someone who is experienced, self-sufficient, and comfortable hitting the ground running. The strongest candidate will understand both CMS and HHS risk adjustment, work well in a high-productivity environment, and be open to feedback and education.
The team is looking for someone who is collaborative, flexible, willing to ask questions, and comfortable acknowledging and correcting mistakes when needed.
