Wound Care Coder

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding for wound care encounters and procedures
• Interpret clinical documentation related to wound assessments, debridement procedures, skin substitutes, grafts, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), and related services
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS, payer-specific, and organizational guidelines
• Collaborate with providers and clinical teams to clarify documentation and support coding accuracy
• Conduct coding audits and identify trends, denials, or documentation gaps
• Assist with appeals and denial management related to wound care coding
• Maintain productivity and quality standards for coding accuracy and turnaround times
• Utilize Epic and 3M 360 encoder systems for coding workflow and documentation review
• Stay current on coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes impacting wound care services

Qualifications

• Previous wound care, surgical, outpatient, or specialty coding experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier usage
• Experience using Epic and 3M 360 strongly preferred
• Must be proficient in spoken and written English
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Schedule

Available schedules include:

• Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM EST
• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST
• Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
