NICU / OB Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist
Contract | Full-Time | 6+ Month Engagement
Norwood is seeking an experienced NICU / OB Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist to support the expansion of CDI services. This role will focus on OB and NICU patient populations and will serve as the primary OB subject matter expert within the CDI program.
This is a unique opportunity to help establish foundational OB CDI processes in a growing program while driving measurable impact on reimbursement and length-of-stay outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform CDI reviews for OB and NICU patient populations
- Prioritize complex and extended length-of-stay cases for review
- Identify documentation opportunities impacting APR-DRG assignment and reimbursement
- Support reduction of excess days through improved documentation clarity
- Contribute to development of internal OB CDI guidelines and workflows
- Collaborate with CDI leadership and NICU subject matter experts
Productivity Expectations
- 8–10 new chart reviews per day
- Ongoing re-reviews consistent with team averages
- Meet established CDI quality and productivity benchmarks
Systems
- Epic (EHR)
- Dolby (CAC/CDI workflow tool) – training provided if needed
Schedule
- Full-time engagement
- Flexible schedule; more structured hours expected during onboarding
Assignment Duration
- Minimum 6 months
- Potential for extension based on ROI evaluation and program needs
Qualifications
- Strong OB CDI experience required
- NICU or pediatric CDI experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently as the OB documentation expert
- Experience building workflows or supporting new CDI service lines is a plus
