Wound Care Coder
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding for wound care encounters and procedures
- Interpret clinical documentation related to wound assessments, debridement procedures, skin substitutes, grafts, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), and related services
- Ensure coding compliance with CMS, payer-specific, and organizational guidelines
- Collaborate with providers and clinical teams to clarify documentation and support coding accuracy
- Conduct coding audits and identify trends, denials, or documentation gaps
- Assist with appeals and denial management related to wound care coding
- Maintain productivity and quality standards for coding accuracy and turnaround times
- Utilize Epic and 3M 360 encoder systems for coding workflow and documentation review
- Stay current on coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes impacting wound care services
Qualifications
- Previous wound care, surgical, outpatient, or specialty coding experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier usage
- Experience using Epic and 3M 360 strongly preferred
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Schedule
Available schedules include:
- Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM EST
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
