Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation through self-direction and self-management.  Facilitates clarification to the clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, care providers, and coding staff to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients with a DRG based payor. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes.

Educates members of the patient care team regarding clinical documentation and regulatory coding updates.

Physical Requirements:
Position is moderate and will require sitting for long periods of time interspersed with walking to and from various locations.  Excellent verbal and listening skills required for communicating clearly and effectively with others.  Ability to bend, stretch, reach, handle/finger delicate items required.  Ability to carry files up to 5 lbs.  Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential physical demands.
