The Sr. Consultant is responsible for contributing to the formulation of clinical documentation strategies while playing a critical role in the development and execution of clinical service lines and compliance of a growing healthcare industry. 

The Sr. Consultant partners with other team members to ensure that existing and emergent programs comply with relevant regulations and best practices, supports the overall goals and objectives of the organization, and advising partners in the development, implementation, and execution of compliant CDI programs. This role interacts with other members of the team to drive project success while also identifying and alerting other members of the team to potential partnership expansion opportunities.  

This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Consulting and may have up to 40% travel. This is an internal Norwood position.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Client Delivery: 

  • Supports the development of consulting methodologies to address the current challenges facing health systems related to the procurement of clinical products/services 

  • Provides consultative guidance and support for clients 

  • Serves as a subject matter leader (clinical, coding, etc.) for solution implementations (contributes to client meetings; supports clinical strategy; recommends best practices initiatives, customizes training and adoption approaches etc.) 

  • Collaborates with consulting teams to accurately diagnose identified client issues (as well as underlying issues), and determines the appropriate solution(s) that will lead the client to achieve best practice performance specific to clinical components of the revenue cycle 

  • Builds consensus among client stakeholders that play a critical role in the health system’s ability to successfully implement the identified solutions 

  • Communicates effectively, timely and accurately in writing and verbally to prospects, members, and other staff 

 

  • Solution / Product Development: 

  • Supports and collaborates the development and implementation of additional scopes for work for new and existing clients 

  • Serves as subject matter expert to other teams needing specialized knowledge around clinical products/services 

  • Provides feedback and insight on the vision and focus for the development of new Norwood service offerings 

  • Collaborates with internal operational leadership to enhance select solutions 

  • Business Development: 

  • Supports business development efforts by actively listening for potential partnership opportunities across new and existing clients and then communicating potential opportunities to service line leadership 

  • Serves as a clinical subject matter expert for internal business development activities 

  • Is not expected to sell directly to clients, but will help prepare client executives for meetings based on subject matter expertise 

 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 6-8 years of consulting or healthcare leadership experience 

  • Experience in the design, implementation, management, or improvement of clinical documentation and clinical education programs 

  • A proven track record in leading high performing teams  

  • Possess the ability to think strategically, develop vision, and execute outcomes  

  • Proven ability to drive organizational change 

  • Experience working in interprofessional environments, with proven ability to develop deep relationships  

  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills 

  • Strong understanding of program development and compliance standards 

  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging data analytics to derive actionable information for internal and external stakeholders 

  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers across multiple levels of team members  

  • Prior healthcare consulting or project management experience in change management or program implementation and optimization engagements  

  • Strong problem-solving ability and a customer centric focus  

  • Team focused with an attitude toward group achievement  

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail 

  • Proficiency in MS Office 

  • Ability to work in a virtual office and team environment 

 

Educational Requirements: 

  • Clinical Credential (i.e., RN or NP) 

  • Coding credential required (CPC, CRC, CCS, etc).  

  • Clinical Documentation credential required (i.e., CCDS, CCDS-O CDEO, CDIP) 

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare related field preferred (i.e., MSN, MHA, or MBA)
