The CDI Manager will oversee and support clinical documentation improvement initiatives across various projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with industry standards along with driving value for Norwood’s partners. This role requires a deep understanding of clinical documentation, coding, compliance, and healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate is a skilled leader with the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

This is a full-time remote position reporting to the Senior Director of Solutions.

You’re excited about this role because you’ll get to:
Client Engagements
- Lead and manage CDI efforts across multiple client projects, ensuring high-quality and consistent outcomes
- Assist in developing and implementing CDI strategies tailored to client needs and organizational goals
- Serve as a subject matter expert, advising clients and internal stakeholders on best practices in clinical documentation
- Conduct reviews of clinical documentation to identify opportunities for improvement, accuracy, and compliance
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CDI programs, providing recommendations for enhancements
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements, including ICD-10, DRG, and other coding standards
- Coach, train and mentor CDI specialists and clinical staff to improve documentation practices
- Develop and deliver educational materials for healthcare providers and team members, including but not limited to coding guidelines, risk adjustment, compliance, and regulatory changes
- Work closely with project managers, coders, clinical teams, and client leadership to align documentation with clinical and financial objectives
- Facilitate collaboration between CDI teams and external stakeholders to optimize program outcomes
- Assists with generating key reports and ROI for partner engagements
- Perform clinical audits and provide insight into findings
- Analyze and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) and EHR reports
- Identify gaps in daily operational workflows and provide recommendations for process redesign
- Work independently or as part of a project team on a client engagement. Could be full-time on a single engagement or across multiple projects
Internal Team Support
- Partners with CDI Directors to provide guidance to less experienced members of the team, as needed
- Participate in Solutions development by assisting and sharing tools, methodology, and knowledge
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement
- Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed
Sales and Business Development
- Join business development efforts as a clinical subject matter expert on delivery strategy and methodology
- Report on potential engagement expansion opportunities identified while working on assigned engagements
- Develop materials to support sales efforts, as needed
We’re excited about you because you:
- Possess the following:
- Clinical credential (RN or NP)
- Clinical documentation credential (CCDS, CCDS-O, CDEO, CDIP)
- Master’s degree in healthcare related field strongly preferred (MSN, MHA, MBA)
- CPC, CRC, CCS, etc preferred
- Have at least 5+ years’ experience in an acute care hospital setting (ICU/Med/Surg/ER)
- Minimum 5 years clinical nursing experience
- Strong working knowledge of coding/classification systems appropriate for inpatient CMG and DRG prospective payment system
- Knowledge of post-acute regulatory/accreditation requirements preferred
- Have at least 1 year of experience managing projects and/or teams for healthcare organizations
- Worked for a healthcare consulting firm (previous experience in start ups are a plus)
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of healthcare regulations including CMS, ICD-10 and DRG optimization along with applicable reporting
- Are experienced with risk adjustment and value-based care models
- Possess excellent, organizational and communication skills (analytical skills are a plus)
- Excel at delivering high quality work and driving positive impact through outcomes and results
- Possess strong project management aptitude with proven ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines
- Understand the dynamic nature of managing delivery and expectations and can adjust to drive towards successful outcomes
- Effectively influence and communicate at the peer to C-level, both internally and client facing
- Lean into difficult or ambiguous situations with a result oriented and collaborative mindset
- Bring a strong track record of building, developing, and maintaining relationships with just about anyone
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products and organizing your desk
