A Norwood Partner, based in Houston, TX is seeking a Remote Denials Specialist to assist with a growing number of company-wide backlogged denials.
UR Specialist
Responsibilities
- Reviews and completes continuous daily work queue volume of denials.
- Most, if not all denials will be from post-acute care facilities. (mostly behavioral health patients with medical needs)
- Analyzes work queues and other system report and identifies denial/non-payment trends
- Maintains open communication with third party payor representatives to resolve claim issues.
- Identifies, reviews, and interprets third party denials
- Initiates corrected claims and appeals according to payer guidelines.
- Keeps abreast of all government, managed care and third-party hospital coding, billing and reimbursement rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Promotes Teamwork and maintains a positive atmosphere when communicating, both oral and written.
- Completes all assignments per the turnaround standards. Reports unfinished assignments to the Supervisor.
- Meets productivity standards or consistently exceeds productivity standards.
Job Qualifications
- RN preferred
- Must have a clear and active Texas or compact license.
- Good writing and analytical skills are a must.
- Experience writing denials for hospitals in sub-acute or short-term care settings
- 2 years of Care Management and/or Utilization Management Experience
- 3years clinical experience
- Knowledge of third-party healthcare insurance plans, denials, and appeal procedures Basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with hospital applications and basic Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Good knowledge of automated billing systems.
****This job will be 100% remote. All candidates must have a dedicated workspace with a lock on the door to comply with HIPAA standards

- Software access will be provided before or during orientation.
Remote RN Denials Specialist
Maximum pay rate: $65 an hour
Bill Rate: $105 (finalizing approval)

The Denials Specialist (remote) will review and rework of all types of denials accessing Meditech software.
